What we collect

• Your account: your name, email, date of birth and graduation year.
• Your writing: essays, drafts, uploads, stories, activities, the schools on your list, and your answers to questions.
• What you tell us during setup, such as your background or family. It's used to tailor your coaching, and it's never shown to parents.
• Your conversations with us: notes from calls, and messages you send us by text or on Discord that we choose to save.
• Your phone number, if you add one, and the texts we exchange.
• How you use versi, such as how much AI you've used, so we can run the service and keep it within its limits.

How we use it

We use it to run versi: to give you notes and reminders, remember what you've told us so advice fits you, and let our team help you. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

We use these services to run versi, and they only get what they need to do their part:

• Supabase stores your account and writing.
• Vercel hosts the website.
• Railway runs the text coach.
• OpenAI generates AI feedback from your essay text and answers, when AI feedback is on.
• Resend delivers our emails.
• Photon delivers our iMessages, if you turn texts on.
• Google, if you sign in with Google or import from Google Docs. We only read the documents you pick. If you use voice answers, your browser may send your audio to its own speech service.

Who at versi can see your essays

Our small team can read your essays and leave comments while "a person reading my essays" is on. Each time someone opens one, it's logged. Parents only see progress and deadlines, unless you choose to share an essay.

Your choices

• Turn AI feedback, team reading, call recording and the example library on or off in settings.
• Download your data, or delete your account and what's in it, in settings.
• Text STOP to end texts.

Keeping it safe, and how long we keep it

Your data is private to your account, with access rules enforced in the database, and it's encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, so please use a strong email login. We keep your data until you delete your account.

Students under 18

versi is for people 13 and older, and we don't knowingly keep accounts for anyone younger. If you think a child under 13 has signed up, tell us and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you before it applies to you.
